When: Saturday August 4, 2001
Where: The AirTel Plaza Hotel,Van Nuys CA
The AirTel Hotel in Van Nuys went out of there way to make us comfortable in their main ballroom, with an exquisite buffet that satisfied everyone’s dietary needs.
There were many first-timers (Paula Kingsbury, Laura Fetterman, Barry Tuchman), and some we haven’t seen for many years (Tony Giordano, Debra Schulman, Maddy DiMaggio.) Jim Hopkins showed up direct from the golf course. While the hair may be thinner (or gone) most of the guys looked the same if you overlooked the extra 20-30 pounds. Thank goodness the women didn’t have that problem, as most of their hair colors and styles hadn’t changed a bit!
Making a grand entrance late was Bob and Patti Meyer Carrelli, who left a Chatsworth High reunion to join our party. Bryan Rich and Sheila Tompkins Baker were the only ones to remember the Alma Mater and they sang it beautifully. We honored our departed classmates with a minute of silence following a roll call, and we gave a standing tribute to all the classmates who had served our country in uniform, be it Armed Forces, or as Police or Fire Fighter.
The DJ played music from the 60’s and organized some group line dances. John Sclimenti (S65) showed he could still bop with the best of them, but the star of the dance floor was Rosalie Rosenblot Kessig whose Texas two-step put us all to shame.
But mostly we just talked, remembering the Good Old Days fondly, and sometimes inaccurately. Addresses and emails were exchanged along with promises that this time they would stay in touch. Some finally confessed classmate crushes. Some sought forgiveness for secret pranks or for words once spoken in anger.

By request, we have added some pages to this Memory Book to include photos of families, grandchildren, pets, and of classmates who could not attend. Our display of Memorabilia and Graduation Day was so popular at the party that we included a few pages to these as well.
Lastly, a big thanks to those who donated door prizes for our reunion: Randie Lawrence (music CDs), Dr. Robert Loudermilk, DC (Randie’s employer donated two bottles of wine), Sheila Baker (hair products, beach bag, and all the centerpieces!), Paula Kingsbury (restaurant gift certificates), and Ed O’Donnell (dinner tickets).
We were late getting organized but I think everyone who attended felt the effort was worth it. See you in five years for the 40th!
